Appalachian Mts

I am addicted to the Appalachian Mountains. Today was the second weekend in a roll I head out there. Today’s expedition was a good 8 miles on not so easy terrain. It all took a good 6 hours but well worth it. After a good 30min bike ride we got to or hike start marker and started the long hike an hour of which was in a thunder storm. We discovered a waterfall in the middle of no where which fell into beautiful deep pools of crystal clear water you can jump into from near 100 foot drops.

Wildlife was in abundance. The rain seems to have a way of bringing all of God’s little creatures out, both the cute and fuzzy and creepy and slimy. During the first 20min I found a rat snake near our path which measured a good four feet. I got country (yeah, i used to climb trees barefooted) and started to handle the pissed off snake to the horror of my outdoor buddy. He told me that he would keep it real and punch me in the neck if I ever turned National Geographic on him again. Fine, end of story…..no more snakes. Poisonous insects?

Wildlife included: A rat snake, an unidentified snake, lots of deer, a wild turkey (that almost made me pee my pants), one of those fat birds I found at school the other day (looks like a fat softball with wings much too tiny to adequately fly with) , a fire newt, badgers, bullfrogs, chipmunks…

Were you in West Virginia?
Thats where Im from..lol
now THAT's APPALACHIA!
lol

16% of the Appalachians are in our region (NY)

that fat bird is called a Grouse btw, better get your bird books out yusef.

unfortunatly kingston is not in the Appalaichans, its the foot hills of the catskills. Those born in NYS have been going to your newfound place for years. n

nope, not a Grouse man.

BTW: Z

1. Thanks for the Kingston geographic correction. However, notice that Kingston is crossed out on the picture, meaning that it was a first option not to be confused with my final Appalachian destination.

2. Many parts of th the Catskills and Appalachians lay in federal park lands and thus indeed not "newfound" and have been explored by many more than Johnny Appleseed.

3. Fuggedabout making any more f'ed up corrections or I'm having my guys in Bk turn on the industrial size meat grinder. Capice?
