I would like to thank you all at ------- for taking the time to meet with me and for offering me a position as a ----------------.
My present employers were concerned about losing me and after some deliberation; have decided to meet your salary offer and offered me more responsibilities. Despite the fact that I am very interested in working with your company, the short-term aspect of the position offered and questionable possibility of future retention are a reason for concern and so I have decided to turn down your offer and stay with my present employers.
I understand that this is a short notice (my start day was Oct 3rd) but I was just given the offer this past Friday and I apologize for any difficulties that this may cause. It was a very difficult decision to make being that it would require me to work more hours and receive no benefits. However, whether I would remain employed at the ------- after 10 weeks remains and open question and a difficult gamble.
On a final note, my interest in working for -------- has not changed and I ask that everyone please keep me in mind and to feel free to call me in the event that a secure position were to become available.
