I made it out to a roof top party in the East Village. As always, I was a little stricken with social anxiety but after a few drinks, I became a bit more comfortable. It was good fun and I welcomed the opportunity to view the city from such a magnificent perspective. As soon as the fireworks began, I set up my camera and tripod.
The pictures were achieved using a telescopic lens and a 2-3 second shutter speed and a bit of experimentation with the aperture size. I got really lucky with the timing of some of these shots and the results are truly spectacular. Enjoy.

Well the pictures truly are spectacular. The United Nations building somewhat blocked the view but at least now with your pictures I can see what I may have missed.
