Rivers of Self-infliction

I have

Lamented,

Rivers of self-infliction.

Lost my footing, sense of gravity.
Wrapped up in the current,
Of your love, my torment and affection.
Drowned is the sound of the world,
By that of your silence,
That washes,
Erodes,
My sense of being.

I have

Lamented,

Rivers of self-infliction.

Surges of pain, jealousy and failure,
Come and go like the tide.
Nothing like that of you,
In the distance without a backward glance.
One foot on water the other closer to oblivion.
My salvation,
My lifeline,
Your hand,

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~out of reach.
I have
Lamented,
Rivers of self-infliction.
How I envy you.
The damp-less-ness of your being.
The firmness of your step.
The weightlessness of your shoulders.
The burden is mine alone.
